The Music Curriculum
All pupils from Nursery to Year 6 are taught Music by our specialist teacher who delivers lessons each week. Years 1-6 are taught these lessons in our specialist Music room.



The School Orchestra
The school orchestra comprises talented pupils who demonstrate sufficient skill and musicianship on their respective instruments to join. This ensemble will perform at various school assemblies, whole school events, and mass celebrations, thereby enriching the cultural life of the school and fostering a sense of community through music.

The orchestra is led by our specialist Music teacher.

Greater Depth Music Programme
The Greater Depth Music Programme is designed for pupils who have been specifically identified as having exceptional musical potential. Selection is based on several criteria, including aural recognition, rhythmical aptitude, the demonstration of musical creativity, the ability to swiftly grasp and apply music theory concepts and a general affinity for music.



Participants of this programme will engage in a comprehensive curriculum that enhances their music listening skills while delving into both traditional and creative aspects of music theory.

Additionally, pupils will explore music technology, enabling them to connect with modern musical practices. The programme also provides opportunities to experiment with various instruments, such as the drum kit, fostering versatility and encouraging personal expression.

Through these diverse learning experiences, children will further develop their innate talents and deepen their understanding of music, preparing them for potential future pursuits in the field.

The programme is delivered by our specialist Music teacher.



The Ursuline School Choir
All pupils from Years 3-6 are given the opportunity to join our school choir. Once a week, the Choir meet in order to practice and learn various songs which they will perform at varying points during the academic year.
