Welcome to Year 4

The Year 4 curriculum aims to provide a well-rounded education that involves critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong love for learning. It encourages students to explore new concepts, ask questions, and develop essential skills that will serve as a strong foundation for their academic journey.

The curriculum typically builds upon the foundational knowledge acquired in previous years while introducing more complex concepts across various subjects. In English, children focus on enhancing their reading comprehension, writing skills, and vocabulary development through engaging texts and writing tasks. They delve deeper into grammar, punctuation, and spelling rules, while also exploring different literary genres. In Mathematics, children explore mathematical concepts such as measurement, number knowledge and problem- solving strategies. Children begin to learn to tackle challenges with confidence and applying these mathematical skills in their learning journey.

Our foundation subjects include Humanities. Children are introduced to local History, Ancient Civilization, Maps, Continents and natural resources. They begin to learn about significant historical events and explore geographical features. In Science, children develop their scientific skills and gain a deeper understanding of the natural world. We cover topics like habitats, electricity, sound and living animals. Through hands- on experiments and observation children deepen their understanding of scientific principles. In Art and Design & Technology children explore their creativity and allows children to grow and discover artists.
